Paul Tomkinson has over 50 years’ experience in the Victorian land development industry. As CEO (1974-2014) of Tomkinson Group, he masterfully oversaw company growth through drought, fire and the recession we had to have. Paul continues as Director of Tomkinson Group, where his deep knowledge and insights continue to provide valuable strategic guidance.
Andrea provides strategic and statutory planning for urban and regional projects ranging from re-zoning to estate development, and density infill. Prior to joining Tomkinson Group in 2007, she spent several years working on socio-economic projects in Bangkok and Canberra. Andrea succeeded Paul Tomkinson as Executive Director of Tomkinson Group in 2014 and is now focussed on regeneration for the company.
Managing Director / Regional Manager – Surf Coast
John joined Tomkinson Group in 2011. He brings a wealth of experience to our project management ranks, as well as insightful local knowledge of the G21 Regional Alliance areas. Prior to joining Tomkinson Group, John spent six years as a senior construction project engineer with Leighton Contractors/Baulderstone Hornibrook, where he managed numerous successful road and drainage construction projects. He experience also includes stints as a construction manager for NGO Lagos in Nigeria and a construction services engineer with Invensys Operations Management in Texas.
Principal Licensed Surveyor / Survey Coordinator
A licensed surveyor, Chris has over 25 years’ experience at Tomkinson, having joined the business as a graduate surveyor. He was appointed Survey Manager in 2003. Chris’s work focuses closely on cadastral and engineering surveying over a very wide range of projects, and managing survey staff across the organisation.
Corporate Services Manager
Rick joined Tomkinson Group in 2013 following several successful years as a management accountant in a range of organisations across Australia and the UK. His experience covers local government, merchant banking, mining, as well as five years running his own consultancy.
Regional Manager – Central
Matt joined Tomkinson Group in 2003 and was shortly thereafter promoted to the position of Engineering Manager. Matt’s prior experience includes stints as a design engineer with Warren Smith & Partners, ARUP and as a project engineer with Serco-Coliban Water. He brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of civil engineering and project management.
Principal Design Engineer
Nathan is a Civil Engineer with over 18 years of professional experience in the design and project management of municipal and land subdivision projects and associated infrastructure. Nathan has been with Tomkinson Group since February 1998 and specialises in the detailed design of large scale developments from early conception through to completion of construction. Through the process, Nathan maintains close working relationships with clients and referral authorities, in order to achieve the best principle design outcomes.
Senior Survey Technician
Tim began working with the Tomkinson Group in 1998. Prior to his commencement, he spent a year in the UK on a study tour after the completion of his Engineering Survey Associate Certificate from Bendigo TAFE. Tim has worked on some key projects for Tomkinson Group – Bendigo Bank, Bendigo Marketplace and large subdivisions for Villawood in Bendigo and Moama – undertaking cadastral and feature surveys.
Richard is a local Torquay Graduate Surveyor, who has been working within the industry for 8 years. Initially joining Tomkinson Group in the Torquay Office as a Graduate Surveyor and Team Leader in 2011, Richard set off to explore the world in 2012, maintaining work within the industry and gaining invaluable international experience, and was welcomed back to the Torquay office in 2015 and is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Surveyor.
Ken has nearly 20 years’ experience as a contract construction surveyor on major projects in both Victoria and New South Wales. With a Bachelor of Applied Science (RMIT), Ken’s experience covers GPS, whole farm surveys for irrigation, rural and urban cadastral subdivision and feature surveys. Ken has worked on a broad range of significant projects at Tomkinson Group and is relied upon for experience, broad knowledge and dependable accuracy.
Regional Manager – Urban
Stephen joined Tomkinson Group in 2016 bringing 40 years of experience in land development, project and construction management with him. Stephen has been responsible for civil engineering and project management for a range of civil projects including the planning, concept, design, development, tender documentation and construction phases. He has also been involved with the servicing and costings for major land projects including the East Werribee PSP tender for the MAB Group, and project and construction management for such subdivision as Mill Park Estate (5000 lot subdivision) and Westmeadows Lane (2000 lot subdivision). Stephen’s understanding of both the public and private sectors provides an integrated perspective on land development initiatives.
Ben is currently in his final year of study of a Bachelor of Urban, Rural and Environmental Planning at LaTrobe University, Bendigo. Before making the career move into Planning, Ben also completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts – Graphic Design and has been working in graphic design for many years. He was employed at Tomkinson Group in early 2017 where he has been able to enhance existing and develop new knowledge of planning policy and its application in Victoria.
Russell possesses over 16 years professional experience as a Civil Engineer in the design and project management of municipal and land subdivision projects, and associated infrastructure. Russell has been a Project Engineer at Tomkinson Group since 2005, and manages projects and liaises with clients, subcontractors and authorities through the design and construction phases to compliance, including road, drainage, sewer and water main construction for subdivisions.
Pat began at Tomkinson Group in the late 90’s beginning as a Surveying Technician moving into the Senior Draftperson role. Prior to that Pat worked as a Surveying Technician with TGM in Ballarat, Singletons in Bendigo, and Rogans in Gisborne providing Pat with an extensive background and range of experience. Pat has worked on key projects such as Bendigo Bank building, large scale subdivisions in the Bendigo region, Bendigo Airport and Fortuna Villa.
Corey joined Tomkinson Group in his final year of studying for his Bachelor of Civil Engineering where he assisted in the design and drafting of projects. Since completing his degree in 2017, Corey has joined our team full time where he is putting his last 4 years of study to work whilst gaining a broad range of knowledge and experience.
Paul joined Tomkinson Group in 2016 as a payroll and finance officer. Coming from a varied background in public practice accounting, computer software installation and support, his 16 years of experience, in both Melbourne and Bendigo, are a valuable asset to Tomkinsons’ Administration Team.
A familiar face at Tomkinson Group, Leonie initially joined the company in 1989 as a Receptionist/Junior Admin Assistant fresh out of school, progressing to Administration Officer before leaving in 1999. In 2010 Leonie returned to Tomkinson Group and is currently a Senior Administration Officer, responsible for a number of Administrative/finance duties. Leonie also maintains our Quality Assurance and Occupational Health and Safety systems across all our offices.
Josh is currently studying surveying at the University of Queensland and works for the Tomkinson Group around his study commitments.
Jason has over 20 years professional experience in all disciplines of land surveying, ranging from engineering setout to major land subdivision projects. Jason has continued to undertake and manage surveying projects for clients in both the private and public sectors at the Torquay office. In this role Jason liaises with clients and manages survey projects and staff to ensure projects are completed efficiently and accurately.
Rachael graduated with a double degree in Civil Engineering and Commerce in 2014, and has worn many different hats within Tomkinson Group. After initially joining the Torquay team as an Administration Officer, Rachael quickly added project management and engineering tasks to her skill set. Rachael has continued to expand her interests and is now successfully balancing a diverse and demanding range of skills.
Alex is a Civil Engineer and joined Tomkinson Group in 2011 after graduating with Honours from LaTrobe University. He currently works in the design and project management field of municipal and land subdivision projects and associated infrastructure.
After receiving his Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons.) at LaTrobe University Bendigo in 2016, Brad took on a job as a Graduate Engineer in Wangaratta where he put his years of study to work. He has since made the move back to Bendigo where he joined Tomkinson Group in January 2018 in which he hopes to further develop his skills to improve the quality and efficiency of all projects he is involved in.
Peter has been employed by Tomkinson Group for over thirteen years and has more than 30 years’ experience in civil design. Prior to joining Tomkinson Group Peter spent time as a civil designer at various private and government Authorities, including 3 years with Bonnaci Winward structural engineers, 4 years with Barwon Water and 6 years with the Gas & Fuel Corporation. Peters current duties as a Project Manager include liaising with clients, subcontractors and authorities through the design and construction phases of various land development projects.
Alex joined Tomkinson Group in 2012 and is working as a Graduate Surveyor supporting the Surveyors across all the Tomkinson offices. He has recently completed a Bachelor of Applied Science at RMIT, (Surveying) Honours.
Regional Manager – North East
Matthew joined the team in late 2017 with the ambition of utilising his prior experience on both private and public projects, to enhance our presence in North East Victoria/Southern NSW. Matthew began his career in 2005 and during his tenure has been exposed to land development and multi-discipline teams to deliver both small and large capital works projects. Having been employed in Albury/Wodonga, Matthew was exposed to the challenge of learning to operate under two different States’ planning and engineering Standards and Regulations. This has allowed Matthew to offer clients the ability to efficiently work across State borders in the North East Region.
Paul commenced his surveying career in 2001 where he worked on the NextGen project in the southern states of Australia for 12 months. Paul gained his surveying license in 2011 and has since been responsible for the surveying and management of a variety of different projects based in Victoria and Queensland. Paul joined Tomkinson Group in March 2018 to assist in the setup and development of our Wangaratta office.
Stephanie joined Tomkinson Group in April 2018 after completing her VCE studies in 2017. She has settled very nicely into the role and her friendly and helpful manner is the first point of contact for clients of our Torquay office. Stephanie is highly motivated and offers support to staff in a wide variety of administrative functions, while also undergoing study for a Certificate III in Business Administration.
Administration Officer / Brand Management
Nyomi joined Tomkinson Group in September 2018 as the first point of contact for our Wangaratta Office. With 23 years experience in the industry, Nyomi is responsible for providing reception and administrative support within the Wangaratta Office. Her wide variety of skills and knowledge come highly regarded and she is already proving to be an important part of our growing team.
Katie joined Tomkinson Group mid-2018 and has many years statutory and strategic planning experience in State Government, Local Government and the private sector across Victoria and the Pacific. Katie’s key skills lie in listening and understanding developer and community aspirations and needs and using this information to guide and inform practical outcomes that advance the interests of our clients, local communities and key stakeholders alike.
Karen joined Tomkinson Group in November 2018 as payroll officer and first point of contact for our Sunbury clients. In addition to payroll, Karen looks after front reception in the Sunbury office and is responsible for invoicing, document preparation and providing general administrative support to staff. Karen is a valued addition to the Tomkinson administration team.
James joined Tomkinson Group as a Student Engineer in 2018 and went on to complete his Bachelor of Civil Engineering at Deakin University Geelong. Since completing his degree James has joined our Torquay team full time, implementing the skills he learnt as a student designing, project managing and drafting.
Michael St Clair
Michael joined Tomkinson Group in early 2019 following experience as a planning consultant in the growth areas of south-west Sydney and the Illawarra. With experience working with Local Government, Michael has a strong Statutory and Strategic planning background. Michael has a passion for planning for sustainable outcomes, with interest in emerging building techniques and a focus on reducing car-dependency within our Metropolitan areas and major regional centres.
Matthew joined Tomkinson Group in May 2019 as a Licensed Surveyor. With over 15 years’ experience in the surveying and land development industry, Matthew has experience providing professional survey advice to both private and government sectors on all aspects of surveying, subdivision and land law. Matthew has undertaken the project management of several major multi-storey building subdivisions, green field subdivisions and land acquisition processes from concept through to completion.
Tori is the first point of contact for our Bendigo clients. Tori joined Tomkinson Group in June 2019 after completing her VCE studies in 2018. Tori looks after front reception in the Bendigo office, offering administrative support to staff while also undertaking study for a Certificate in Business Administration.
Frank began his career in 2001 as a Design Engineer in Land Development and joined our Sunbury team in late 2018. Frank is a Designer who specialises in a multitude of projects including stormwater drainage, sewer and water reticulation, major and minor road works, onsite stormwater detention, drainage investigations and WSUD measures for Land Development projects. Frank’s diverse background and employment history provides him with a valuable and integrated perspective into land development initiatives.
Josh commenced at Tomkinson Group in 2018 after working and travelling around Canada and the UK for 2 years. Josh joins our growing team in Wangaratta as a surveyor.
Nick is a broadly skilled project and civil engineer with a proven track record in delivering complex and significant capital civil works through to specialist project engineering services across civil, commercial and private residential. He has joined Tomkinson Group in August 2018 bringing extensive knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures.
