Towong Shire Structure Planning
In 2023 Tomkinson were engaged to prepare new “structure plans” for the towns of Bellbridge, Corryong, and Tallangatta. These plans will guide development until 2040 and are based on community input and other state government policy considerations.

These plans aimed to:
- Preserve valued town character
- Support sustainable growth within the townships
- Boost the local economy
- Align the structure plans with current and future local needs,
- Define township boundaries for growth management,
- Provide support for more diverse housing options,
- Incorporate updated consideration of environmental risks,
- Separate land uses more appropriately and
- Identify future strategic work that may be required.
Tomkinson worked with Council to develop emerging option papers for each town to drive discussion and input into the process. As part of the structure planning work Tomkinson facilitated community consultation and input into the process by briefing council, liaising with public authorities, and hosting community drop-in sessions at Bellbridge, Corryong, and Tallangatta.
The final Structure Plans and associated emerging options, were adopted by Council in mid-2024 for implementation via a planning scheme amendment.
