PROJECTS
Lethbridge Drainage and Access Improvements
Tomkinson was engaged by Moorabool Shire Council and the Department of Transport to deliver a suite of works around Russell Street, Tall Tree Road and central Lethbridge.
What started as separate projects quickly became a coordinated effort, with our team bringing the designs together so construction could be delivered efficiently and as one package.

Improving Lethbridge’s Flood Resilience
Following the 2022 floods, Council needed a practical drainage upgrade to better manage stormwater through the township. Our survey and engineering teams designed a series of improvements running from Cubbitt Street, along Stephenson Street and across Russell Street—including upgraded culverts and driveway crossings. The result is a quieter kind of benefit: safer streets, fewer disruptions and a town better prepared for heavy rain.
Better Paths and Local Connections
Council also engaged us to design new shared paths along Tall Tree Road and Russell Street. These links create safer access between homes, the school, the recreation area and the renewed playground and skate park. While the play space works were delivered separately, our path designs were built to tie the precinct together and make everyday movement easier for all users
Accessible Bus Stops for Regional Travel
The Department of Transport then engaged Tomkinson for a third project: upgrading two local bus stops to meet Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) standards. These upgrades now provide wheelchair accessible boarding points for V/Line coaches travelling between Geelong and Ballarat—an essential improvement for residents who rely on regional public transport.
Three Projects, One Delivery
The real win in Lethbridge wasn’t just the individual outcomes—it was the way the works came together.
By coordinating the design across all three projects, Tomkinson was able to connect Moorabool Shire Council and the Department of Transport, enabling all upgrades to be delivered by the same contractor while on site. This approach reduced costs, minimised disruptions and allowed the community to benefit from all improvements at once, rather than over multiple drawn out stages.
Construction wrapped up in late 2025 on time and on budget.
It’s a great example of what we love most—helping regional towns thrive through practical projects that genuinely make a difference.
