Tomkinson was engaged directly by Moorabool Shire Council to collaborate on the design of a new car parking facility as part of the State Government–funded Federation Park Upgrade in Darley.

A key focus of our work was to ensure the upgraded car park responded to the practical needs of the community while complementing Council’s broader vision for the park. The resulting design delivers a functional, cost‑effective and visually appealing asset that significantly improves access to the reserve. This includes dedicated DDA‑compliant parking bays to support inclusive use of the park, as well as oversized vehicle spaces to accommodate caravans and larger recreational vehicles frequently seen in the area.
Environmental and landscape considerations played a major role in shaping the final layout. The car park was carefully designed around several large mature native trees, ensuring these high‑value environmental assets were retained and protected throughout the upgrade. This approach helped preserve the park’s natural character while integrating new infrastructure sensitively into its surroundings.
Through a collaborative and design‑led process, Tomkinson delivered a practical and attractive car parking solution that enhances accessibility, respects the existing landscape and contributes to the long‑term success of the Federation Park Upgrade.
