Situated just south of Woodend township, Edgewood Estate is a lightly treed, rolling site, with great access to transport, services and the natural delights of the Macedon Ranges. Tomkinson Group has been involved in planning, surveying and civil engineering work for a number of independently owned parcels of land in the area.
As a result of a holistic approach, the development of the area has incorporated a generous and beautifully treed central park, for which all landholdings made a contribution.
The site is bounded by Quarry Road, Washington Lane, South Road and Beves Lane, and was zoned General Residential with a Development Plan Overlay. A Development Plan was required to cover all parcels of land, and necessitated negotiation and cooperation between landowners, Council, and the local community.
The design of this development demonstrates Water Sensitive Urban Design principles, and includes a central median swale drain in the major roadways, to maintain the alignment of an existing creek.
Ultimately, permits have been approved for development of over 150 lots in the area, with a central public park at the highest point of the site, retaining some majestic old trees, and accessible by local residents and the general public. Construction of dwellings is now underway and the landscaping and attractive site contours are adding to the successful blending of this new development within the existing older urban layout of the area.
